Noruz or Persian New Year falls on spring equinox around March 21st. Noruz lasts for 13
days. It is a special day for Iranians. They believe on this day, earth is recreated and
new crops grow. Persians share gifts and sweets with their friends and relatives. The
gifts given usually include confectioneries, especially gaz made in Isfahan or sowhan.
