1 cup Ponni Rice cooked in 2 cups of water and set aside to cool
1/4 cup raw peanuts or shelled groundnuts
1 onion diced
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
1 tsp. fenugreek seeds
1 tsp. mustard seeds
3 tsp. channa dal
1 tsp. Black gram dal
10 curry leaves
1 to 3 green chilies minced
2 small whole red chilies
4 tsp. sesame seeds
2 Lemons juiced and set aside
4 tbsp. ghee or oil
Salt to taste
1. Add salt, Lemon Juice and turmeric powder. Gently mix them thoroughly and set
2. Add oil/ghee to a pot and fry peanuts on low till they are brown in color. Then
add sesame seeds and fry till it changes color. Set aside.
3. Add the mustard seeds and red chilies to the oil and let the mustard seeds pop.
Then add the 2 lentils and fry for about three to four seconds till the lentils are
brown . Add fenugreek and cook another few seconds. Then add diced Onions and
curry leaves and fry till onions become translucent. Add the rice and stir fry the rice in
the seasonings and mix thoroughly.
4. Before serving fold in the crisp peanuts and sesame seeds.
