Cooking Directions for a traditional Biryani
STEP 1
300 gms. or 10 oz. of chicken
entire packet of this mix
1/2 a cup of yogurt
1 cup of water
Put the above in a pan and cook until the meat is cooked.
STEP 2
4 oz Ghee
1lb Rice (washed and drained)
1 Lemon (optional)
In a large pan half fill bring 5 cups of water to a boil. Add the washed rice and cook for 10 minuites. Drain the rice in a seive and rinse with a little cold water.
STEP 3
Transfer the meat mixture into a flattish baking dish there should be about 1 cup of liquid in the meat left if not add water to make the liquid to 1 cup. Now spread the rice evenly over the meat. Squeeze the lemon and pour the juice over the rice. Dot generously with ghee/clarified butter. Cover the dish tightly with foil of a baking dish cover. Bake on 350 degrees F for 30 minuites.
Cooking Directions on the package
Pressure Cooker
Take 300 gms. or 10 oz. of chicken, entire packet of this mix, 1/2 a cup of yogurt and 1 cup of water in a cooker and cook for 2 whistles. Cook seperately 1 cup of basmati rice (add salt as per taste). Spread this rice on the cooked chicken. Add cashewnuts, raisins and pure ghee.
Microwave
Take 300gms of basmati rice in a microwave bowl. Add 6 cups of water and salt and let it remain for half-an-hour. Cover and cook on micro 800 w for 18 mins. Take another microwave bowl and put in it 300gms of chicken, entire packet mix, 100gms of curd and 225ml of water and mix it well. Cover and cook on micro 800 w for 20min. Now spread the cooked rice on it and add cashewnuts, raisins and pure ghee. Cover and keep this on micro 400 w for 8 mins. Delicious Chicken Biryani is ready (for 4 persons). Follow the same procedure for Mutton Biryani, but while cooking mutton, cook on micro 800 w for 25 min
