Lentils are overlooked in USA but are a healthy choice Compared to other types of dried beans, lentils are relatively quick and easy to prepare. We offer single lentils and beans and also lentil blends for quick protein soups and salads. Lentils and beans may be combined with rice or served with rice or whole grain bread for more complete proteins. They readily absorb a variety of wonderful flavors from other foods and seasonings, are high in nutritional value and make wonderful dishes throughout the year. Flavor lentils with our lentil spice blend available in our store. For beans we have the classical Rajma Masala for Kidney Beans and Channa Masala for Garbanzos or combine garbanzos with tahini to make hummus. Alternatively, just add the beans to rice and top with cheese and onions for a super quick dinner. For a more Cuban style, add chicken, sausage and spices to black bean soup for a one-dish meal. We recommend our pressure cooker to cook lentils and soaked beans in 12 to 15 minutes.

Lobhia Recipe
Black eyed beans in gravy.
Ingredients
2 cups blackeyes
1 1/2 tsp. grounded coriander
3/4 tsp. grounded cumin
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
2 tbsp. oil
1 small chopped onion
2 large cloves chopped garlic
1 tsp. chopped ginger
1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
1 medium chopped tomato
Salt according to taste
Method
1.In pot soak beans overnight in water to cover generously.
2.Next day, drain beans, put water in it and bring to boil. Add salt, coriander, cumin and turmeric.
3.Simmer until beans are just tender, about 30 to 45 minutes.
4.Heat oil in deep pan. Add onion, garlic, ginger and cumin. Fry for 10 minutes and add tomato.
5.Cook for another 5 minutes and add beans and the water in which it was boiled.
6.Continue to simmer, uncovered, until beans are soft but not completely dissolved.

Rajma Recipe
A favorable dish of Punjab
Ingredients
1 cup red kidney beans (rajma)
1 cup onions, minced
1 tsp. chili powder
3 tbsp. ghee or oil
Salt to taste
2 cloves garlic
1 green chilies
1 tsp. ginger
1 cup diced ripe tomatoes
Method
1.Soak the red kidney beans overnight.
2.Boil or pressure cook beans with ginger
3.Heat the oil and fry the onions for 5 minutes. Add the grounded garlic, chili tomato paste to this mixture and cook until the oil separates out.
5.Add the mixture to the cooked kidney beans.
6.Add the other spices and salt according to taste.
7.Cook again till beans become thick and stew like. Serve hot.
