Made for you with joy and love without any salt, msg. sugar or any additives. Just pure spices are hanblended in small quantities in Minneapolis by our family.From the world famous Kashmir region comes this famous North Indian dish. Cook with our Red Kidney Beans Spice Blend with tomato sauce, onions and a dash of plain yogurt. Just like Mexican chilli it is robust, nutritious and spicy. Serve with okra veggie (made with Ajika Bhindi Masala Spice Blend), yogurt raita and plain rice with Indian mango pickle or relish.


Recipe :

Kashmiri Rajmah Recipe     Serves 4-6

Ingredients:

1/3 cup ghee or oil

 /1/4 cup chopped fresh ginger

1 medium onion minced

3 fresh roma or ripe tomato (diced)

3 cloves garlic (chopped)

1 large chopped green chilibr /8 oz. can tomato sauce

1 cup kidney beans soaked in water and boiled with salt and 6 cups of water (yeilds 4 cups boiled red kidney beans) or 30 oz. can red kidney beans

1/3 cup plain yogurt

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a deep sauce pan over medium heat for 1 minute.
  2. Add onion and saute for 1 minute
  3. Add ginger, garlic, green chili, and let cook for 1 minute
  4. Add tomato sauce and Ajika Rajmah Spice Blend. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, on medium till the mix is dry.
  5. Add kidney beans with water or canned red kidney beans and one additional cup of water and fresh tomatoes. 
  6. Cover the pan and bring to a boil. Reduce to medium heat and let simmer covered for 10 minutes or more.
  7. Blend in yogurt. Remove from heat.
  8. Traditionally this recipe is served with plain rice and Bhindi Masala in the roadside Dhabas and homes all over the mountain regions of North India
