About the Product :

Whole masoor is also called matki, have greenish-brown shells. These chewy, robust flavored lentils and have a dark, nutty, rich taste and are called the vegetarian meat dal. Soak for 10 minutes and cook for about 30 minutes. All natural. Friend of the heart. Diets rich in whole grain foods and other plant foods low in total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease and some cancers.

Use with our Ajika dal masala/lentil spice blend for tasty and convenient cooking. This blend is all natural, has no salt, preservatives, fillers or MSG. Lentils are 100% all-natural.

Recipe :

Masoor Lentil Pilaf - Serves 12
Ingredients:
½ cup oil or ghee
½ cup akha masoor dal ( unsplit lentils). Soak for 45 minutes.
2 cups basmati rice
1 large red onions sliced lengthwise
1 tbsp. raisins
1 tsp. cumin
1” piece of cinnamon
6-10 peppercorns
6 cloves
6 green cardamom
2 tsps ginger garlic paste
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. garam masala
Method:
Dry fry onions till brown and set aside. Heat oil in a pressure cooker pan and deep fry onions till dark brown. Remove and set aside. In the same pan add whole spices and stir fry the spices and raisins. Add the a ginger garlic paste and stir. Next add the salt, chilli powder and turmeric. Now put in the washed rice and 4 cups of water. Stir in 1 tsp garam masala and fried onions.
Put the lid on and cook on a low flame for 20 minutes or till all the liquid is absorbed by the rice.
Open and serve this wonderfully aromatic pulaoa and serve with raita (yogurt salad and with a side of steamed indian vegetables flavored with out Vegetable spice blend.
